The Summer Missions Team program is a life-changing missions experience for 12 weeks during the summer months. Through this unique ministry, college students who desire to participate in summer missions are encouraged to follow the example of our Savior, who came to serve and minister to the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of others. College students accepted into this program will be placed onto teams according to gifts, talents, and abilities. These teams serve in many ways such as working in the dining hall, serving as lifeguards, or doing maintenance and general work for camp upkeep. The Summer Missionaries also travel in teams to Central Texas churches to share the gospel in fun and creative ways.

As a Summer Missionary you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of many children, youth, and adults throughout the summer, as well as grow personally from the experience of serving others in Jesus' name. Throughout the summer of 2008, over 9300 campers came through the gates of Highland Lakes Camp. Many of these people came to know their Lord in new and wonderful ways, including more than 400 individuals who recorded placing their faith in Christ as Savior. None of this would have been possible without the dedicated Summer Missionaries who tirelessly sacrificed themselves to meet the needs of these campers.

We at Highland Lakes invite you to see how Christian students from colleges and universities across Texas and surrounding states can minister together to significantly impact the lives of adults, youth, and children. The hours are long and the work is hard, but the rewards are great. Working at Highland Lakes is a physically, spiritually, and emotionally challenging experience that few people walk away from unchanged. If you are looking for a place where you can serve God and others, all the while reaping the benefits of a tremendous scholarship, then apply today to serve as a Summer Missionary at Highland Lakes Camp and Conference Center.

Why Serve Here

?

Summer Missionaries strive to accomplish the following objectives...

  • Work behind the scenes, serving others and ministering the love of Christ in many exciting ways.
  • Share the gospel message with students and adults who attend Highland Lakes Camp.
  • Serve on a worship team that leads weekly church services throughout Central Texas.
  • Serve as a role model and mentor to high school volunteers throughout the summer.

What Should I Expect?

Summer Missionaries are divided into the following six teams...

  • Recreation / Support Staff. Team with other certified lifeguards to watch over swimmers at the lakefront and pool, and help campers have a blast by pulling them on water toys behind one of Highland Lakes' many boats. Assist campers as they participate in the Challenge Course, BMX track, archery and BB gun ranges, and other outdoor activities. Work behind the scenes to clean and set-up equipment for guest or programs.

  • Maintenance. Roll up your sleeves and work to repair broken and/or damaged equipment. Then hop on a mower, grab a chainsaw, or take hold of other equipment to help beautify the Camp grounds.

  • Food Services. Serve alongside other aspiring chefs to prepare and serve scrumptious meals to a multitude of guests. Team work is an absolute must as staffers manage the varied day-to-day kitchen activities.

  • Health Tech / Medical. Minister to sick and injured campers by bandaging their wounds and administering their daily medications.

  • Marketing / Concessions. Work together with other creative salespeople to supply clothing, drinks, and snacks to campers anxious to spend Mom and Dad's hard-earned money.

  • Public Relations. Use your creative abilities and technical expertise to design videos, photograph campers, and write news articles.
